Overview

Many planets contain mineral deposits used in the construction of machinery, vehicles, spacecraft and energy systems. The value of a deposit depends on the purity of the mineral, the depth at which it is found and the cost of extracting and processing it. Relka contains large deposits of several minerals and is one of the most important mining planets of the Liberal Alliance of Planets.

Common Minerals

velith: A crystalline mineral used as fuel in spacecraft, vehicles and grid link drives. After extraction, it is purified, stabilized and packaged in specialized rods. Relka contains some of the largest known velith deposits.
karveth: A heavy metallic mineral used to produce durable structural alloys. It is used in fortifications, metal frameworks, industrial machinery and the hulls of large spacecraft.
talmor: A lightweight mineral with high resistance to pressure and sudden changes in temperature. Its alloys are used in hovercraft, aircraft, spacecraft and portable military equipment.
selkar: A mineral with high electrical conductivity. After processing, it is used in cables, circuits, sensors, communication systems and flux arrays.
norvium: A dark metallic mineral that remains stable at very high temperatures. It is used to protect engines, reactors, exhaust systems and sections of spacecraft exposed to intense heat.
meradon: A common industrial mineral extracted in large quantities. It is used in the manufacture of tools, pipes, containers, agricultural machinery and simple mechanical components.

Mining and Processing

Most minerals are transported from mines to separation and purification facilities. Waste rock is removed and the processed material is formed into plates, rods, granules or industrial powder, depending on its intended use.

Planets with large mineral deposits acquire considerable economic and strategic value. For this reason, mines, processing facilities and storage areas are often protected by fortifications and permanent military forces.
