Novara
Overview
Novara, officially known as Novara Eightfold, was a city on the planet Nareth, within the territory of the Valmir Republic. It was constructed by the Order of the One according to the principles of Sacred Urban Planning.
Its population consisted primarily of natives who had been forcibly relocated from the city of Oak Haven. The Order of the One presented the relocation as an organized solution for their housing and protection, but many residents regarded Novara as a place of confinement.
Sacred Urban Planning
Novara was designed according to the geometric order imposed by the Sacred Urban Planning of the Order of the One. Its streets, squares, districts and gates followed a strict and symbolic plan.
The city's organized design stood in sharp contrast to Oak Haven, where the residents had shaped their own neighbourhoods and daily lives. For many of them, Novara was a foreign city that had been planned and constructed without their consent.
Uprising and Destruction
During the uprising on Nareth, irregular fighters destroyed the southern gate and entered the city. They called upon the residents to abandon their homes and flee into the countryside.
Most of the population left Novara during the night. The insurgents set fire to buildings and installations, regarding the city as a symbol of the faith and authority of the Order of the One.
Forsworn forces attempted to retake Novara but found themselves exposed outside the city. Jets belonging to the air force of the Valmir Republic attacked their positions and forced them to retreat with heavy losses.
Following the battle and the fires, Novara effectively ceased to function as a city. Its destruction became one of the most powerful symbols of resistance against the presence of the Order of the One on Nareth.
