Renzo Takamori

Overview

Renzo Takamori was an aristocrat of the Sorestian Empire and governor of the planet Tenshara. He was a close friend of the deposed emperor Akirado Soroyoto, who appointed him to the position.

His rule ended after the abduction of Mariko Arenzuma, an act that caused tension among the aristocratic clans of Tenshara and threatened to plunge the planet into conflict.

Early Life

Renzo Takamori attended the military academy with Akirado Soroyoto. The two young men shared a room and developed a close friendship.

Renzo appeared to be a mild, courteous and restrained man. When Akirado became emperor, he believed that his old friend would be a just and capable governor and entrusted him with the administration of Tenshara.

Governor of Tenshara

After assuming power, Renzo began to reveal a more authoritarian character. As governor, he possessed considerable authority over the aristocratic clans and administrative services of the planet.

Raiken Soroyoto believed that power had not changed Renzo but had instead revealed the character he had concealed while he was still young and lacked the strength to impose his desires.

Abduction of Mariko Arenzuma

Renzo Takamori, blinded by his desire for the young Mariko Arenzuma, ordered her abduction from her home and kept her imprisoned. When his wife objected, Renzo imprisoned her as well.

Mariko's father, Hirodan Arenzuma, gathered the forces of his clan and sought the support of other aristocratic houses. Tenshara came close to a private war among the clans.

Deposition

Emperor Raiken Soroyoto travelled to Tenshara and convened the council of aristocrats at the governor's estate. Renzo accepted responsibility but presented his actions as a personal weakness caused by his fear of growing old.

By imperial decree, Mariko Arenzuma was ordered to be released immediately. Renzo Takamori was removed from office, and Hirodan Arenzuma was appointed governor of Tenshara until a later decision by the empire.
